Who We Are

After serving youth in various aspects for over 30 years, obtaining a master's in educational leadership, and working in the education sector for the past eight years, the long-time idea and passion of opening a emergency foster care shelter was finally pursued...

The concept of Nana’s CASA arose from frustration and inability of the state to provide adequate housing after removing children from their home. There is a lack of enough reputable facilities housing and protecting youth while providing them with a nurturing environment. Nana’s CASA aims to provide foster care for infants to teenagers aged 17 who are in need of immediate safe accommodations. With the increased pressure on the foster care system, we have established an emergency shelter to provide immediate support to children who have been neglected and abused by introducing them to a nurturing and safe environment.

The unique value of Nana’s CASA is that we offer a home environment that facilitates groups of children at all ages, allowing siblings to stay together. It is essential that children are not separated from their siblings. Siblings can often find solace and emotional support in each other, avoiding further trauma of being separated from the only family that can understand their situation. Keeping siblings together offers additional stability, helping them to adjust quicker leading to better future outcomes in terms of educational achievements and mental health.

The prime focus of Nana’s CASA is taking in children immediately after being removed from abusive and neglectful situations and providing them with a safe environment that promotes healing. We believe all youth should be provided the opportunity to improve their circumstances and take a positive step towards their future regardless of their previous situations resulting in their placement in the foster care system.
