Because Only Together We Can
Build a World Where All Youth Are Safe, Strong & Valued
history
Nana’s CASA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit emergency foster care shelter that provides a safe place, loving home, and nurturing environment. The daily goal is to promote a promising future for abused and neglected children of all ages. The aim is to decrease the burden on the Texas foster care system by producing a stable, supportive environment for children that enriches life experiences and helps them reach their highest potential.
Because foster care can be an unsettling and challenging experience for children, Nana’s CASA aims to provide all available resources to support and develop skills aiding in the transition to the next stage in their lives. We also take pride in accepting children of different age groups from birth till the age of 17, which is a strong proponent of keeping siblings together.
Nana’s CASA understands that working to improve foster care in Texas will not be easy, so all of our resources will be dedicated to the cause. Our work will have long-term implications for the community to produce self-sufficient individuals who can become well-balanced contributing members of society, regardless of their home environment. All children are our future, and part of our mission is to guide them while their parents or primary guardians cannot do so.
— Abuse in Dallas County
Every day, schools, police, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services determine that children are in life threatening situations requiring immediate removal from their homes. Because In Texas, more than 4 children die from abuse/neglect in an average week, so Nana’s CASA emergency shelter provides a safe, loving home until the child is placed with a family member, long-term foster home, or is adopted.
— How the Emergency Shelter is Funded
The State of Texas provides reimbursement for each night a child stays at Nana’s CASA. Unfortunately, that may only cover around half of daily care, so Nana’s CASA relies on the generosity of others to provide the additional funds required to care for each child.
